I can't say enough good things about the Nest Cam. I bought 3 packs and a camera (4 cameras total) for my mother's apartment. My mother is 86 years old and has stage 3 Alzheimer's. She keeps forgetting everything. We live 1200 km apart. Nest Cam helped me to help her with her daily activities. We don't use Nest Cam with videotape. We only use it as a live feed cam so I can contact her and help her with her business. The picture quality is excellent. There's even sound so you can have a full conversation on the Nest Cam. You can speak and be heard and hear what the person on the other end of the camera is saying. The cameras were very quick and easy to set up and move around. Setting up an online account was easy. Anyone can do it. You need "0" experience to set it up and use it. There are no monthly fees for this use of the camera. If you want to move your camera often, just buy an extension cable. I often help my mother when she is at the computer. My mom holds the camera right in front of her computer screen so I can see what she's doing, read her computer screen, and help her with tasks she finds difficult. I can make her turn off the oven after she's cooked. Nest's customer service is some of the best I've encountered. They are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and available 24/7. I called them several times before purchasing the Nest Cam and twice after. Every time I called I spoke to someone from Nest for 1-2 minutes which was very impressive. I'm used to listening to bad music for 10-15 minutes when calling customer service from other companies. Another useful feature is that Nest sends you an email whenever the Wi-Fi network goes down. The Nest camera system would be a great surveillance system, but it's also perfect for helping and tracking elderly parents. I highly recommend the Nest Cam system.
