The shelf was easy to assemble but the connection points were super visible and just made the product cheap. Even the bottom had cheap looking grooves. The product photos are not misleading but you have to look at them VERY closely and you will see that the connection points I am talking about are much more visible in person. However, the shelf is very light, which is a good thing, and there aren't many floating shelves that don't require nails/screws, so I've been trying to get it working for me. I first added a white vinyl finish which looked great on the top surface but I couldn't get smoothness around the curved parts. I then tried painting the shelf with acrylic paint - this worked great as it hides the connection points and makes the shelf look like painted wood. When I wanted to hang up the shelf, the hanging rails were another thorn in my side. They are transparent but they are still VERY noticeable/bulky/eyesore behind the shelf and the shelf looks cheap again. This shelf is useless to me. Maybe it would be good for a children's playroom. I will say the hanging rods are incredibly strong (as they were difficult to remove) so I think the shelf will hold up just fine.
