As I don't use a CD player, this type of phone holder suits me. I have not tried the type of holder that fits in the air vents as it is more likely to damage fragile air vents than this type can damage the built in CD player. I've used dash mounts in the past and they work well, but they're heavy and can cause damage by flying out in the event of a collision. Installation is very easy if you ignore the printed instructions (see photo) which mention no lock to hold the CD tray and a screw cap to lock the phone holder in place, the only two points that really need explanation. . I have a 2018 Toyota Corolla and this holder works quite well; My only complaint is that it partially obscures the display, which is particularly annoying when using the rear camera.
