I bought this rather expensive container because I expected it to be airtight enough. While tested to retain water when carefully laid crosswise or upside down on a counter, in actual use it leaks like crazy when something presses on the lid - e.g. in a lunch box, backpack, fridge (with some other container thereon). is so soft that it is not suitable for liquid content. It's a shame, because I like the idea of the silicone lid and it's nice and transparent. The stainless steel container itself is strong - at least as strong as any of the many reusable lunch containers we already have. For liquids, however, we'll have to stick with our existing containers with screw-on metal lids + silicone liners.
