I bought this "speaker" for my 9 year old daughter for Christmas. Despite some criticisms against it, I bought it mainly for use as a radio. I've searched a lot on the internet and there aren't really as many "portable radios" out there as there were when I was a kid. But there are a lot of new devices out there, and some of them have pretty cool features. After much research I chose this particular product because it can be used as a speaker etc for my daughter's future needs in addition to my basic needs as a radio. I also liked the look and size and the fact that it comes with a rechargeable battery. The list price was around $16.99 when I bought it, so all in all it seemed like a very good deal. So I got it and gave it to my 9 year old for Christmas. She loves it! The radio feature is way better than others have stated in their reviews and it's not that hard to set up (um, my 9 year old did). We're happy with how it looks and the strap is comfortable; and we're happy with how it sounds. When we were discussing gifts a few months ago and I mentioned the radio my 9 year old was interested but my 7 year old was NOT. She said radio is not a "boring" gift. But now that she's seen her sister's song, she sings a different tune and SHE wants the same one too. :)
