Review on Monitor Screen Desktop Printer Computer by John Patterson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great way to raise the monitor to a comfortable viewing height

I was surprised when I opened the box; There was something about him that I hadn't expected and didn't recognize at first. There was a heavy rolled up sheet of clear plastic, a soft square black rubber pad and some small round self-adhesive pads and the expected monitor stand. There were no instructions in the box, no printed matter at all. I had to look at the original Revain listing which reminded me I got a table mat and mouse pad. All items here are very well made, strong, durable and useful. I wanted the monitor stand to be level. the height of my computer system with three monitors. The first image of my desktop (labeled "Before Monitor Stand" in the images) shows the old layout, where the center monitor was a few inches lower than the two side screens. Realizing that adjusting the middle screen to the same height as the other two would be a lot easier on my neck and general vision, I needed a monitor stand. I chose this one which was a great choice. You can see the results in the second desktop image labeled "With Monitor Stand". It is much more convenient to use. One reason it works well is because of the adjustable legs that allow the height of the stand to be raised and lowered. A picture shows legs not extended, sliding slot and height control latch. This was a small problem for me. As seen in the picture, the latch that allows the foot to slide up and down looks like inserting your thumb into a curved area and pushing it up or possibly down. nope It doesn't slide in any direction. After a lot of frustration I figured out that you take the curved tip and pull out a little which frees the foot. If you hold the stand upright like I did, the leg falls completely out of the groove. Oops. Instead, hold it upside down, then pull out the latch and elevate your foot to the desired height. That works great. And at some point you can also use sticky pads to cushion your feet. An added benefit - or perhaps disadvantage - of using a monitor stand is that it provides a new chunk of horizontal space on your desk that can become even more cluttered than before. (My desktop photo shows how much of a problem this is for me!) The new shelf now has my oranges and bananas, and the other half of its length is available to accommodate an as yet undefined clutter. Under the stand is a jumble of wires and cables, now less visible than before. The picture also shows semi-circular slots running on either side of the top of the stand. I can only imagine that they can be useful for storing pens and pencils. This doesn't work for me as the stand is out of my reach, but you can use the stand closer to you. The table stand made of transparent plastic is very beautiful. It sits under the keyboard and offers a slightly sticky, soft surface that feels nice and prevents items from sliding around. You can see all the papers you could put underneath. The mouse pad is slightly larger than many mouse pads and well made. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. I only needed a monitor stand but also got a nice desk pad and mouse pad. The stand is sturdy, beautiful and just the right size for me.
