I'm only writing this review to warn people that it can have a very unpleasant smell! But a nice shower mat. First I'll tell you what the carpet looks like and then I'll get to the awful smell, LOL. When I opened it up, I found that it actually looks a lot darker than it does on the internet. Although I like dark and light colors. I bought this because my son is almost a year old and the one we have now is too slippery for him to crawl on. I had imagined it to be a bit softer than it actually is; it's actually quite stiff and not very comfortable on the bare rear end when used in the bath. It's much better if you use it while standing in the shower. But that's really good for my son because he didn't slip at all; In fact, the "stones" are cute little handles for him. Because the color is so dark, the bath water also looks darker and even a bit dirty. We use colored bath tablets to make the water nice, but the result is that the water looks a bit dull and dirty. but I still like it a lot and am satisfied with the looks and functionality. NOW - smell! Came in a standard Revain box but was in a roll wrapped in its own plastic. When I removed the plastic and unwrapped it, I immediately noticed that it smelled strongly of marijuana. In fact, it had such a strong smell that other people in my house started asking why the kitchen smelled like weed, LOL! In some places it smelled like plastic, but in other places it smelled very strongly of weeds. I ended up putting it in the shower and rinsing it out with hot water and then washing the crap out of it. It actually took 3 times for the smell to go away! Between the conditioner and the Lysol, my whole bathroom stank so bad. I mean, I know it's legal here in Washington State, but...! It's not quite the smell I would want my son to have again. Hopefully it was just a weird ball experience, but beware, this can happen to your mat too!
