*** FINAL UPDATE *** Angela kept her word in Retevis. The interchangeable microphone also works. It's not as clear as some, but far better than any in the sub-$15 price range. This is a hot microphone and should be kept at least 20cm away from your face. The sound quality is good. The strength of this microphone lies in how it feels in the hand. Ideal for desktop or mobile use. Signal reports reflect good, strong sound without much background noise. In general, for such money, a great option. I will hold off on the 5th star pending further signal reports and testing. In general I like it very much. I extend my sincere thanks to Angela Lee and the team at Retevis. I have never experienced better customer service from any provider. They went out of their way to fix everything. *** UPDATE *** I got a call from Angela Lee at Retevis. After discussing the issue, she will send me a replacement microphone free of charge. Angela was polite, courteous and helpful. What impressed me the most was that I received an international call a few hours after posting my review. It's hard to beat such responsive customer service. I am currently changing my rating to three stars instead of one based on excellent customer service. I will make final revisions once replacements are received and tested. I hope my example was just bad. The construction feels solid, although the clip is cheap and likely won't stand up to heavy use. But it has almost no audio output when broadcasting. The TX audio is about 25% of what it should be, and what it is is so muffled and distorted that it's unusable for transmission. Tested on Baofeng GT-3, UV-82, UV-5R% and TYT MD-380 radios. .No TX tone on any of the three.
