So I bought this rod as an extension to my Stabilizer Smooth 4. A few inches longer than the carbon rod I bought last year. This has the benefit of being able to fold down fully to just over 7 inches, while the carbon fiber stem does not. I can carry this pole in my pocket and pull it out when needed. I was worried that it wouldn't support the weight of the gimbal, but I managed it with no problems. The only thing I don't like is that if you're not careful you can get your fingers caught when folding the pole, that's happened to me twice. Otherwise a great rod for the price.
