I wanted this because I love the shoulder bag I bought and I wanted this bag to match. (NO, it's not a shoulder bag. It's a shoulder bag. ugh) It smells like leather because. Yes. It's fairly light and feels soft but structured. I expected this size because I read the full description and looked at all the photos including buyer's photos, so I'm happy with the size. I agree with other reviewers that the straps could be a bit thicker or wider but I think the bag will hold up just fine. I don't currently see any fraying along the straps or other parts of the bag, but the stitching is slightly loose at the top of each bag connection. I'm more worried about the strap pulling on the bag and tearing it than about it unraveling. My biggest problem is the black spots on the back of the bag. At the moment I'm not sure if I can keep it because of that. If it wasn't for the stains this would be a 4 star rating. The thicker straps might have given it a 5.
