I recently bought a PutCube and was generally disappointed with the investment. The first problem is that when trying to set up the PetCube, the Android app doesn't work properly. I have a GooglePixel phone so it's a newer phone model with the latest version of Android so it's not a problem. Bluetooth pairing worked fine, but when I tried to set up the PetCube to connect to my Wi-Fi network, it failed after about two dozen attempts. I had the idea of switching to my old iPad, probably 6 years old, to try it out. An old iPad with an outdated operating system allowed me to set up PetCube without any problems. If you only have Android devices, don't even bother. After agonizingly trying to set it up, I encountered a few bugs in the app. Choosing a preference for laser or sound activation is not always displayed. This means you have to end the call and try again, often two or three times. Even with a fast internet connection (I tested it and can play video games without lag due to the connection quality), the latency ranges from one to five seconds and is not constant. Laser calibration didn't seem to improve accuracy or response time. Trying to set a lower video quality to avoid lag, for example, doesn't actually fix the settings. All you get is a list of settings and the app ignores your choices. The app does not save any settings, e.g. B. you want your call to be in 720p 10 fps with audio on and laser off. This is not possible by default in this application, so you have to do it manually when you start a call. In the few days I've been using it, there have been a lot of dropped calls. The device's speaker is quiet and usually causes feedback, although it is not really loud. I've developed apps before and I think one of two things is likely. Either they are not well trained to develop the software required for this device or they have delivered an unfinished product and are not good at maintaining the software and fixing bugs as they arise. All in all, it's a negative experience, and an expensive one at that. I am looking for a device with working software. I would prefer a working product to 1080p resolution. I just want to look after my dog while I'm away from work and the software doesn't allow me to do that effectively.
