Let me start by saying that I've been doing powerlifting without using knee pads for almost three years. crazy i know Anyway, I decided it was time because I recently had an episode of side knee pain and was praying it wasn't a meniscus tear. Silly again, but I could walk and carry weight, just had a bit of soreness when I squatted/walked. Well they arrived just in time for Squat Day and I couldn't wait to try them. Decided to order a small one. My knee circumference was 13.5 inches, but I decided to go down for some extra compression. I think it was a good idea. I was still able to wear them over pants, but had a little trouble in the lower calf area. Sleeve. Perhaps this dimension needs to be considered. I wore sleeves around my ankles until I was ready. Ever since it took me a while to get to the gym from home, my ankles have been sweaty. These things give off some heat! I pulled them over my knees and immediately felt comfortable. They fit like a glove. I did my first set of squats, light weight, lots of reps and gosh they felt great. I felt like I had great compression and stability. .My knee didn't bother me at all, these sleeves are a godsend.
