This is supposed to be a genuine Dell OEM replacement for a Dell laptop. Although it's a perfect physical fit, Dell's proprietary software refuses to recognize it. So the laptop isn't charging even though the AC adapter is fine (?) and the laptop is fine - yeah. Dell customer support was useless as we bought it through Revain and not directly from Dell. It looks like Dell is taking some advice from Apple's book. UPDATE: I replaced the battery for this laptop and tried this adapter again just in case. The same message came up (see photo). This adapter is definitely either a fake or a defective part. BUYER BEWARE OF THIS SELLER! I got a different adapter from a different seller and it works fine.
