Review on πŸ“ž Cisco CP-8811-K9 Black IP Phone - No Power Supply Included by Cesar Carter

Revainrating 4 out of 5

good phone Nice features. Seems to be a nice display. Mediocre price.

This is a great IP phone from Cisco. It works well with CUCM/Call Manager deployments. It comes with a phone case, a stand (which can only be attached one way), a handset, a handset cable, and an Ethernet cable. Please note that the phone only supports the SIP protocol. It does not support SCCP or other older protocols. It works with wideband audio codecs like G.722. The phone has a built-in SSL VPN client (like AnyConnect) that allows you to use it for remote locations like home offices. You need an ASA firewall on the other end to terminate the VPN connection and a specific AnyConnect phone license to use this feature. Another reviewer bemoaned the fact that the phone doesn't have a power adapter. It is true that none is included. However, Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches are very commonly used for IP phone deployments, so including power supplies (which should be at least +48VDC) simply inflates the cost and leaves most deployments with a large stack of unused power supplies . I gave the phone one star mainly for the display and partly for the price. The display, while nice and sharp, can be difficult to read from certain angles. This is especially true if you slouch like me. In addition, unlike the next product line, the 78xx series, the footrest can only be used in one position. The cost is, well, it's Cisco hardware, so you're paying a little more.
