Not just for ironing

There seems to be a lot of bad reviews but I took a chance because the purpose of buying this iron was not ironing or needlework. I was replacing windows in my house and the wood veneer around one of the frames was in very bad shape so I bought a hot glue backed wood edging. You place the tape where you want it—usually on the edge of a counter or shelf—then run an iron over it to heat the glue underneath, and it stays in place. The border was perfect for the window but my iron was too big to fit in and heat it up. This iron fits perfectly. I slowly ran it up and down the strip until the heated glue set it in place. My methods worked like magic and you would never know the window frame was ever damaged. A lot of reviews complain about the detachable cord coming out of the iron, but I didn't have that problem. It has trouble staying upright when you lower it, so you have to be careful. In addition, there is no power switch and no automatic shutdown. If you leave and forget and it falls... A lot of people say it's not hot enough for their purposes. May be. I do not know. I know I wouldn't want to try ironing a shirt with that tiny iron. I might have to admit that it might not be as hot as my regular iron, but it was definitely hot enough to burn me. It provided enough heat for edge bonding and proved to be the ideal tool for this job. There are ventilation holes on the front of the iron to dissipate excess heat. I suspect that this little iron might get too hot without them. I don't know what I'll ever use this iron for again, but I'll hide it in case I need it. This iron did the job and I'm happy with my purchase. Oh, and I carefully followed the instructions on the sticker attached to the iron. "Do not immerse in liquids." I'm glad I was told. :-D Reminds me of a warning that was once found on a heating pad. "Do not apply directly to skin or clothing." ¬_¬
