Advantages: The Sportran is well made and solidly built. It is very beautiful and absorbs mink oil and other skin emollients well. Cons: The chain is well made, but the polished metal finish is substandard at best. The coating peels off easily and can be quite dirty. This can be corrected by wiping down the chain with a microfiber cloth and applying a very thin coat of a metallic lubricant such as Frog Lube or Hope's No. 9. Chain clasps are also quite flimsy and should be replaced as they bend easily and can damage the kilt.
