Review on πŸ”Š Wireless Multiroom Speaker: Bang & Olufsen Beosound 1 in Sleek Natural Aluminum by Angela Tarpley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Stylishly designed speakers with great performance

I've always been a big fan of Bang and Olufsen and also have several speakers from this brand, so I'm only rating them subjectively for what I have (including the Apple Homepod for the perspective) with different aspects: Sound field: A9 Gen 4 > Beosound Edge > Beosound Balance > A9 MKI > Beosound Stage > Beosound 1 > HomePod > A6Bass: Beosound Edge > Beosound Stage > A9 Gen 4 > A9 MKI > Beosound Balance > A6 = HomePod >= Beosound 1Mid-high range (piano, vocals, etc.) Beosound Edge >A9 4th generation > Beosound Balance > A9 MKI = Beosound 1 > A6 > HomePod > Beosound stageWhen you open the box, the first thing you might think is maybe " is a lot bigger than I thought. Even after taking this video, I realized that it appears so small in almost every review or picture, but actually it is quite It's big, in fact it's even bigger than Homepod. I know it's not a big deal to talk about the size of the speaker, but the original purpose of this product is to be portable because it has a rechargeable battery. Judging from the portability, I have to say that if you're looking for a slimmer and sleeker replacement for the Beolit 17, this isn't your pick. It has no straps or handles. And to be honest, since battery life was considered when designing this speaker, performance definitely took a hit (usually more amplifier power means more powerful sound). But if portability doesn't bother you, this is a pretty good speaker. It produces a really loud sound due to its rather small body. The bass has its own power but is not overwhelming, the top end is crystal clear. While compared to larger speakers (e.g. Beosound Balance) it can be harder to ask it to excel at a symphony (it doesn't sound bad by any means), given the dynamic performance or room compensation technology that makes the speaker do it forces to produce such a sound would fill space (HomePod, Balance, a9 mk4, etc.), the design and performance for pop music, female vocals and higher frequency instruments such as the violin can easily justify the tiny weakness of the speaker.
