Review on California Bugout Backpack by Sandpiper - 22x15.5x8 Inches by Jamie Mousavi

Durable, versatile and ideal for work or on the go.

It's not called the Bug Bag for nothing and SOC delivers it to the 72 hour backpack department. Useful for work, school, hiking or getting out of a Dodge to get the job done. Purpose without having to spend a small fortune External/Internal Materials: You can just squeeze it a little and say it will hold up in adverse conditions The Bugout's exterior is extremely durable, the main reason I had to part with my 10 Years old backpack from Kelty. It's amazing how quickly the technology in these backpacks changes, especially in terms of abrasion resistance and durability. I have a feeling it's going to take a long time and take a beating. It has aluminum luggage racks which appear to be very light so even when planning long trips or evacuating the house the backpack is not too much of a weight factor. Harnesses and Straps: The bugout is ergonomically designed, giving you a low profile when the lap and chest straps are buckled together. You won't feel bulky at all and all the weight is distributed to the hips and shoulders. The compression straps look a bit flimsy (not the straps themselves) and will likely wear out faster than the bag. I don't expect that to happen any time soon. *** Cool Feature *** Hip belt and shoulder straps are neatly stowed in a narrow compartment. You can then use the adjustable shoulder strap and carry it like a duffel bag. Haven't found the need to do this yet, but it's nice to have options. Compartments and Pockets: This backpack is roomy and has an expandable option that increases its volume from 2900 to 3300 cubic inches (50 to 54L). I mainly use it for work but I'm sure I can easily use it on a 3 day hike. To give you an idea, I can easily fit a laptop, change of clothes, boots, notepad and snacks in it. It has an organizer for pens or small tools. You can definitely store your knives, compasses and cutlery there if you go on a hike or need to go out of town. Hydration Compatibility: You can use this with the CamelBak hydration system or any other bladder type hydration system. I think that's why it doesn't have side pockets to put a water bottle in. I prefer to use a water bottle instead, and it's a bit awkward to scoop it out of a pocket (first world troubles I guess). I think that's really my only complaint. Sandpiper has made a solid backpack here. I am very happy with this purchase and look forward to camping with it in the future. Maybe it's because I don't buy new backpacks every few years, but this Bugout backpack really impressed me.
