It's supposed to be 17 inches long but if you pull off the end caps and about a half inch on each side the light doesn't come on. It's closer to 14 inches of actual light. I placed it over the sink so I didn't have to use magnets to hold it in place. I took them out and screwed them to the ceiling above the sink about 3 1/2 to 4 feet from the sink. On it was a photo of a lamp mounted over a sink. It is great for placing under a cabinet that is close to the counter but no higher than 2ft. It's so small I couldn't believe it. I would say it's about 1 inch in diameter, maybe less. I wasn't looking for a toy. I needed light to wash dishes. I hate him. But now I can't afford to buy any other brand. in measure.
