Another reviewer here said they were filled with "real beans". I didn't quite believe it, but I decided to check it out just to confirm my suspicions. Of course, these are NOT real beans. These are thicker, rounded styrofoam beads about the size of a large pea. They break easily under your finger, which is probably why other people have reported this bag "breaking" or "flattening" after a few weeks! As far as "roughness" goes, I've learned that it's not really the outer shell that's rough, but the outer shell is a bit thinner than the old-school leather/vinyl shells, so the mesh bag in this beanbag, the everything that holds pellets together is pressed against the outer coating and you can feel the rough texture through it. :-/ My beanbag is also sold out, as others have reported. where I had to put the outer lid on top of a mesh bag filled with granules. The small size of the mesh/granule bag is a bit toxic due to the chemicals, but luckily the outer protective bag didn't smell at all! I saw a review where one person reported that their 3 year old unzipped and climbed in. on this item, which poses a choking hazard. I understand what you were talking about. but I don't know if a three year old can close the bag once it's inside. However, another child can do it too, and you need to be careful! The main problem I found with this chair is that the carrying handle is too long and my son wears it around his neck like a necklace. I've had to tell him a few times NOT to do this as I think it could also lead to possible choking (if it somehow gets tangled around his neck) or maybe if the bag catches on something or his Sister accidentally gets pulled on him or something, it could really hurt his neck/head/back. All in all, this is a pretty standard beanbag. Nothing special. I like that my partner and I can sit on it comfortably. and we're both taller people (I've gained about 40 pounds since my second child was born in 2019). It has a nice color and the good thing is that it is easy to clean. but let's see how well it holds up. I've only had them for 2 days.* I don't know why they're a bit more expensive compared to other similar bags currently on the market?
