I have this HDMI switch to use with my PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. I don't think it's mentioned anywhere, so I'll confirm that this switch will work without a powered micro USB cable. The cable is only needed when I use the IR sensor for the remote control which I don't want to use. I will just note a couple of cons, they all relate to build quality. The device itself is decently made, but it's still mostly made out of very light plastic, meaning it's going to fall off your feet if you've got any heavy-duty cables plugged in. I wouldn't mind a bit more weight, even if it's just a piece of metal glued into the case. The remote control isn't fantastic. It's the same super cheap remote that you get with any budget Chinese device that uses it. This will work fine, but it's definitely an eyesore. If you use the remote control to switch inputs, you need to turn on the switch with the included power cord. You'll also need to connect a separate IR cable and place it nearby. I'd rather have an IR sensor on the device, but I don't use it in my setup anyway. Overall I am very happy with this purchase.
