Five stars from me, for style and overall value and fit.Regarding my tons of shoes, I predominantly wear an 8.5. Sometimes I wear an 8, and in winter boots (like Merrell or Sorel) I wear a 9. After browsing so many reviews stating to DOWNsize from one's regular size or to order one's regular size , I winged it and went with my regular size of 8.5. This was spot-on, while allowing a little room for thick socks if I wanted, but also still fine without. You will likely want to add an insole, because after my couple all-day wears running errands, they were very slightly uncomfortable around the balls of my feet; but not enough to regret buying these (note the 5* rating). They are NOT insulated down the shank or around the foot, so make sure you plan for other ways to keep your feet warm in these. I wore thick socks and also wore thin leg warmers around my skinny calves. These boots DO keep my feet quite dry. Both times I have worn these so far, I was walking around in snow and sloppy , dirty slush and my feet remained dry all day. The material cleans up very easily from mud or dirt. The zip-up sides makes it easier for me with my delapidated old body and spine to get on and off. Important is that the TREAD is really nice for an inexpensive boot, and for our Alaskan perpetual ice-laden winters here.In some reviews, a couple people complained about the zipper rubbing their ankles a bit. I have skinny calves, so I just bunched down knee socks and there was no rubbing. (There really was no rubbing anyway for me.) Another solution if you purchase these and find that they do rub on your own ankles, is to put a chunk of thick batting into your sock where the boot's rub-spot is; and eventually it will adjust and you will be able to cease doing that - as I learned from having to do this with a pair of fashion boots once that I purchased from a local store.Overall, I am VERY happy with this purchase. They are extremely CUTE, fashionable, and have a fantastic tread for affordable boots. Regarding warmth - if you want something pre-insulated for sub-zero weather, you are just going to have to break down and buy the name-brand outdoor boots. But THESE - I LOVE them - great value for the money spent; and I will buy again if they end up making them in other colors.
