I "inherited" a brass "board" from the head end of the bed and bought a frame for it. This is a typical bed frame with 2 inch casters. We have a bed in the guest room on a wooden floor. However, some reviews pointed out that the wire inside, which helped "compress" the reel, became a problem after a short while. I chose to buy the ones that don't have "working parts" and I'm very happy with my choice.
