Because these HEPA filters don't require a lot of air volume - this fan is more like an air circulator than a regular box fan - don't expect strong winds. It just doesn't circulate the air with noticeably high aerodynamic force.4. quiet as stated. Bought because of the long term exposure to dangerous smoke from forest fires in our area. As we smelled the smoke from the fires in the house, it was time to do something. Our 70's ranch was not built with an HVAC system and we didn't add AC units, so a self contained unit was our solution. We have previously purchased a Blueair 411 air filter unit for one bedroom and it worked flawlessly and did the job of removing the smoke in this room. For the rest of the house we went with the PURE fan as the most economical option and we weren't disappointed! Within 30 minutes of turning on the fan, the air was noticeably cleaner, my eyes were no longer irritated, and for the first time in nearly a week of air hazard warnings, we were able to breathe safely.
