I'm 5ft 1in and 145lbs. After reading all the reviews and suggestions I decided to take a chance and buy the big one. It fits snugly with little room to manoeuvre. By that I mean that I can move freely and don't feel suffocated in it. If I went down a size I would feel like it was snug and would mark me. As for the material, it's a good material - not too thin and not too thick.
