. for my students (4-6 years old) and it's really great quality. You will not be disappointed.

I bought this for my students (4-6 years old) and it's really great quality. You won't be disappointed with the craftsmanship. Here are some potential downsides, depending on your situation. Some of the younger ones (4 years old) find it difficult to follow directions and set up. If they're used to following the Lego instructions (5th and 6th), it should be easy. It is largely necessary to follow the instructions step by step in order for the barrel to work properly as different color coded blocks fit together and work. The booklet offers many different customization options and the images are crisp. Reading is not required. Some kids may be able to calculate their own mileage, but so far it's been difficult for my kids. It is quite durable if only two people play with it gently at a time. It will withstand a small hit, but a little more and fall. There were a few frustrations after spending quite a bit of time setting it up. I noticed that the floor in my classroom isn't quite level. We had to find a perfectly level place. This is actually important as running works more with the momentum gained on ramps and spirals than gravity/tilt. Bridges etc. must be perfectly level. There was a learning curve and we had to help set it up for at least a week. Now they can play with it more independently. I think some of these "difficulties" can actually be viewed as advantages. Fine motor skills, following instructions closely, collaborating, solving problems, etc.

Pros
  • German engineering design Inspired by da Vinci circles with endless creative possibilities for spatial thinking
Cons
  • So far so good
