Review on Piel Leather Buckle Flap Backpack Saddle Backpacks by Jeff Davidson

Fantastic bag! I have read every review posted here

Fantastic bag! I've read every review posted here, so I was fully aware of the potential "cons". I would first like to point out that the manufacturer seems to have read these reviews and decided to include trunk keys (actually there are 3). The locks are fully functional which was a pleasant surprise. Second, users who say they don't fit a smartphone don't try. I easily fit my iPhone 6 in the side phone compartment. There's no chance you'll get a 6+, but a 6 is a nice, tight fit. The only real downside that other reviewers have pointed out (for sure) is the absurdly long straps. I'm 5ft 6" and the shoulder straps are ridiculous. They would be too long for my 6ft 2cm friend. However, this is easy to fix. I took the bag to my local leather shop (a saddlery, not a shoe shop I think) and they "shortened" the straps by undoing the stitching on the underside of the padded part of the straps and stuffing in the excess length (hence the must have leather doesn't actually have to be cut) and sewed it back together. Total cost: $25. I also spent $40 to have them treat the beautiful, supple leather to help it dissolve and protect it from the elements. In short, this is one of the best purchases I've ever made. The quality is phenomenal which makes this price amazing. If you are looking for a beautiful, soft and flexible leather bag to travel the world with, look no further. Just make sure you have a good leather shop to trim your straps!
