Review on Giro Rumble VR Mountain Bike Shoes for Men by Edwin White

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Casual cleats on the heavier, narrower side, but not uncomfortable

Worn with or without bike cleats, these shoes are comfortable to step out of the saddle on every occasion. They have a recess in the outsole that the cleats fit in, even more so when you remove the outer plate cover to reveal the adjustable, see-through SPD holes underneath. The shoes are not light at 15.3 oz in size 47 without cleats and 15.9 oz with cleats, almost as heavy as my winter cycling shoes. They are undersized. My US size is 12 so I tried 46 at first as recommended but it was too short because I could feel my toes pressing against the front. I then tried on a size 47 and although they feel good, the big toe of the right foot (slightly larger than the left) slightly touched the left front wall of the shoe, which I think is due to the symmetrical and narrow rounded front. Design as opposed to an asymmetrical oval shape to leave more room for the big toes, or just a symmetrical but wider rounded front. I have narrow feet so I usually prefer tight shoes like these, but these shoes are either too narrow or run small. Their biggest plus is that they can also be carried off the bike, which is handy for leisurely bike rides. Stopovers or even commutes if your job doesn't require formal shoes. The color 'Bull's Blood' appears to be incorrectly represented on the product images as having two different colors in different places - the one which is more of a burnt orange-brown. and the other is more blood red and the ones I have are more blood red than bright orange/brown.
