I have an apartment with a large balcony. I have four lanterns on the balcony. Last year I bought flameless wax candles for lanterns. They looked good, but after being out in the summer sun for a while, they melted. So this year I looked for wax-free substitutes and found these. They shouldn't melt like the old ones. You look good too. The way they mimic a real burning fuse is pretty clever. Some other brands use more sophisticated technology and don't get as good results. The built in timer is a bonus which makes them even better for me. With the old candles, I had to turn them on and off manually every time I wanted to use them. The timer on this new clock allows me to set it once and then turn it on every night. (I have rechargeable batteries in it, so if they run out it's no big deal.) If they last the rest of the summer and still work and look good, I plan to buy a few more to keep as a backup . when the originals finally break.
