Definitely not what I expected but for the price I can bear it.

There are several toast numbers on the dial but the choice is actually yours: 1 = lightly toasted 2 = black and 3 to 5 = blacker than black! So we taught ourselves to leave it at 1 and press it 2 or 3 times.
