As someone said, it's smaller than I thought. The one I received seems to sit at a higher angle than the picture but I think that's just because it's handmade. Also, I have to say that the engraving of the continents does NOT look like the picture. Everything seems a bit flattened and strangely crooked (see photo). However, I think it would make a wonderful gift for someone who either collects decanters or really drinks alcohol and would like a nice decanter to be poured in. This is a Christmas present for my husband and I am sure he will be delighted. it is the same. There was even a cork that I wasn't sure about. All in all, it's a nice touch, especially when you're not trying to pick a country (haha!). I would recommend it to family and friends but I would NOT recommend it if you are thinking of buying it for someone who is really interested in geography. Maybe I just got a bad one, but it doesn't look bad enough to return. The one with the best etching. They asked for my address and nothing else. I received a new carafe and it looks great! The etching is much more precise and not distorted at all like the first one I got. I was surprised to hear from them even though my original rating was still four stars. They definitely deserve a fifth star, beyond what most companies are willing to put up with today.
