This is a great idea as the outer parts of the key fob wear out the most. I bought it because I knew the electronics needed replacing, but I didn't. Expect to have to replace the small battery clip. It is very difficult to remove it from the original keychain. After I pulled it out, it didn't fit in the case. I also had a hard time closing it without electronics. There was a small gap at the edge that felt like it wasn't fully engaging. With the electronics inside that seemed to fit perfectly, it was even harder to turn off. When inserting the key, the Mall tab on the back moved all the way to one side, making it difficult to remove the key. Now (which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of ), this case isn't very practical. I don't recommend it. I would be willing to pay a little more for a better quality replacement case (it would also be nice to have a logo on the back like an OEM key fob).
