I bought this for a compact magnetic antenna mount for GMRS 462/467MHz. This is for my wife's car and allows her to have a backup connection here in Alaska when cellular coverage drops. As a backup, it's not used much and the radio with antenna stays in the car until needed. 4 wave whip antenna. It works, but a larger antenna, for example for VHF, most likely will not work at high speeds. The second problem is the cable. This is complete cheap junk. The center conductor is made of copper-plated steel. For a timing line that is subject to severe bending, a stranded core would be more appropriate. The dielectric looks like foam wrapped in aluminum foil with minimal braiding over it. The outer shell appears to become brittle and brittle when cold. I've included photos of it with a TRAM 1126 UHF 1/4 wave whip antenna, as well as photos of the coax cable alongside a well known RG58 brand. but I will probably replace the coaxial cable with a higher quality material. I gave it three stars because it works the way I expected it to, but was unhappy with the coax that came with it.
