I made myself an extension cord for my power tools (15 amp max) using 80 feet of 10 gauge SJOOW 3 wire cord (this cord spool will hold more). I wasn't planning on lugging around all that heavy cable without a decent way to store and distribute the cable as needed (total weight including cable spool is just under 30 pounds). My only issue was the friction between the included wire guide (nice feature!), it felt like a brick was attached to the other end! So I made a small modification. I first found a thicker straw with an inside diameter slightly larger than the wire guide, cut it to length (5-3/8 inches), cut it lengthwise and placed it on the wire guide. Then I took a piece of 14" diameter (5-1/2" long) fuel hose, cut it lengthwise and placed it on a straw. Finally I wrapped the fuel line hose (longitudinally) with a piece of tape. Friction between the wire guide and the straw, and the fuel line hose acts as a roller between the cord and the wire guide, making the heavy cable easy to pull in and out with almost no effort! I may need for a specific task. The tubular steel base gives the line spool stability. The adjustable clutch nut provides a convenient way to retrieve the cable when I'm done. illuminated operating indicator. Both features are great security features.
