Some people might buy it for the colorful lights and strobe lights based on the music being played, but I'll report two things: sound quality and build quality. And all I can say is that they are both AWESOME in this very affordable speaker. The bass that comes out of this thing defies what you would expect from something of this size and the overall sound quality for all types of music is just great in my opinion. So good that I'm completely surprised. I want to rip it apart to see how they do it, but I don't want to ruin it so I'll have to use my imagination! It also looks fantastic, with a variety of colors and a line of light running across the front of the device, emitting all the hues while it's playing sound, as well as two twinkling strobe lights behind the front grille fabric. It looks really cool, but if there's too much light or your head hurts, you can just turn it off with a button on the back of the device. Sony has done a great job with this line of speakers. Even the smaller version of this speaker, which I also own and use, sounds amazing. There is quality too. This speaker feels so good in the hand. Seems to be something you care about and want to keep for a long time. It's also water resistant, which is nice if you need to use it by the pool or maybe in the bathroom. I stumbled across this range of Sony Bluetooth speakers almost by accident: I've been using a JBL Charge3 and have been very happy with it, another solid, well built and great sounding speaker. But this Sony model can hardly beat it. I'll try and report on a few more AB tests, but you really can't go wrong with either one. But for now, this Sony is the go-to device in this price range. Five stars!
