I pour in the hottest water I can get and wet the brush, wet my face and prepare to shave. Even after 60-90 seconds, the boiling hot water barely changed the temperature on the outside of the bowl. The water temperature is probably 150 degrees while the outer layer is maybe 90 degrees and it doesn't seem to cause any discomfort. Our water is much hotter than most water heaters. So if it works well for me, it should work for everyone. When I'm done shaving, I rinse the bowl clean and then wipe dry so there aren't any water stains or potential stains left behind. It's looking good after the few months I've been using it and I'll probably buy a few more for Christmas gifts.
