No instructions included but fairly easy to figure out how each of the 3 types of connectors with balls on flex arms should be connected. The clip works well behind the monitors for me, hence the ring of light rises above and behind the monitors. Then I stretch one of the flexible arms under the monitor and in front of the webcam. I don't currently use any other flexible arm, but if I did it would be for a phone. The main reason I only gave it 4 stars is that the flexible arms are really sturdy. I have a very similar clamp with flexible arms for a different purpose and it is also very stiff. I was hoping this one wouldn't be so rigid so it would be easier to reposition the webcam.
