A good starter kit, you need the best carving tools

The Rubber Stamp Making Starter Kit includes a variety of rubber blocks, a decent hobby knife and some basic ink pads. The brush is actually very useful for brushing off small pieces of rubber as you cut so you can see what you're working on. There is no lock on the green box knife so when I tried to trim it on my own it wasn't the best design. Rubber blocks are easy to work with and a pleasure to cut with the right tools. It's a kicker, you really benefit from having carving tools to make good dies. I tried a utility knife and didn't find it easy. So I rummaged through my stash drawer and found several hand and power carving tools that made creating my stamps a lot easier. Since rubber blocks don't have a wood backing, you could theoretically carve two different stamps onto the same block. The gum is thick enough to make a pattern on each side. Otherwise, you can always add your own base or handle to the stamp for ease of use. All in all you have everything you need for a starter kit, but you would also benefit from cutting tools.
