So I don't know why they didn't see fit to label the parts, I couldn't assemble this without looking at the Amazon picture so I could tell the colors of each could see parts. There were also parts I received that I didn't see in the instructions. There is also a random white tassel you can see in my second picture and I have no idea what it is for. You don't need your own tools, it's all done with the included L-wrench (should be provided). Once you figure out the position of the legs, it's pretty easy to figure out. My kitty is still afraid of it as he has never seen a scratching post and he is only 8 months old.
