On the daughter a little big, but not critical. I love that there is an elastic band on the back to help with the fit. I ordered her a large and could probably go for a medium. She weighs 110 pounds and is not exactly 5 feet tall. The skirt goes to the knees. So perfect for us. I didn't want it to be too short. I love that it comes with a "brief modesty" underneath. The fabric doesn't feel cheap, in fact it was a bit heavier than the quilted cotton fabric. I suspect this will help keep the folds on the folds. Overall I'm happy with this skirt and it's very cute! I think I will order more for my daughter in different colors.
