Sliding plates are best for protective gear
The plates move because of the strapping. Don't expect them to stay put when you have to walk or run, they will slip off if you do. You can't tuck them under your pants either, they're too big. Just buy jackets and pants with a protective coating. They're more trustworthy and don't make you look stupid if they end up slipping.
