Excellent underwater photo quality, microscope mode and RAW capture

I'm a wildlife photographer and have had this camera for a few weeks now. I bought this camera for a trip where I will be taking photos while kayaking and snorkeling. I was just thinking of taking my DSLR and getting a waterproof case for it, but after reading stories online of photographers trying this method just to get a leak, I decided not to risk it. I recommend this product to photographers who are serious about taking high-quality photos where water is an issue and care about technical details like RAW capture capability and microscope mode. I don't recommend this product for people who shoot occasionally as they probably don't need the advanced features and can find a cheaper product that suits their needs. Excellent Underwater Photo Quality: This camera takes excellent underwater photos with good image quality. qualitative. Focusing is quick and accurate. The camera is very light, weighing less than a pound, making it easy to take with you when you travel. I took all of these photos in RAW format and edited them in Lightroom. Characteristics of shooting in RAW format: Turning on the RAW setting was harder than it should be. Other cameras can usually be accessed through the settings menu. For the TG-4 you need to go to the main recording screen and select it from the options on the live screen. Also, Olympus doesn't have a "RAW only" option, instead you have to select RAW+JPEG, which seems pretty unnecessary to me, and JPEG files just take up more space on my memory card. Also, I would like to mention that RAW capture is not available in all capture modes. You can't use RAW for underwater HDR, microscope mode, and portrait mode. Luckily I don't normally use either of these modes, but I would still appreciate knowing about them before purchasing the product. Especially since Olympus advertises the TG-4 as a RAW camera. - note. If you want to process RAW images, you need Lightroom 6. Older versions of Lightroom cannot process TG-4 RAW images. Amazing microscope mode: - I didn't get this camera. for its microscope mode, but this feature was certainly a very pleasant surprise and one of the highlights of the TG-4. First, it can focus when the camera is VERY close (only 1cm!) to your subject. This is a very unique ability. If you look at Wikipedia on macro lenses, there is a table of macro lenses and their minimum focus distances. The shortest focusing distance on this table is about 5 inches. Compare that to the TG-4, which can go up to 1cm.- Zooming in up to 44.5x is stunning as the world looks completely different at that magnification. This is such a cool feature and another reason to use this camera instead of my DSLR. I took a photo of a pair of shorts and zoomed in all the way (see photo attached to this review). You can see the fibers of the material. Wow. This will definitely come in handy for me in the future. Cons of the camera: - Poor photo quality in low light. The camera sensor is very noisy in less than ideal lighting. This is also true when using the night modes, so I was quite disappointed. Most of my darker images were very grainy and no post-processing could salvage them. Poor aperture control with an f/2.0 lens. One of the main reasons I bought this camera was the ability to control the size of the aperture, making it as large as f/2.0. However, the camera only allows you to choose from 3 aperture sizes, depending on your current zoom. As a result, I wasn't able to use the aperture settings the way I'd like. The battery life is short. The battery needs to be fully charged after a few hours of use, even if the camera does not take pictures all the time - After taking pictures underwater in the sea, the battery compartment in the camera was a bit damp. Now, after every underwater shoot, I rinse the camera with fresh water, then open all the slits and let it dry. Just because it's shockproof, shockproof, and durable doesn't mean it won't get scratched. . I was cycling, my camera was in the bike basket and it was scratched. So be careful and maybe get a case for it. - Lack of manual settings. I know it's a point and shoot camera, but I'd still prefer to be able to control the shutter speed, ISO, and aperture. The USB cable is not a standard mini or micro USB cable, not a standard one. Sigh. The camera does not come with a complete printed manual. Instead, Olympus provides a 121-page PDF manual.
