Review on Stylish And Comfortable Women'S Summer Ruffle Dress By Levaca by Tracy Love

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great dress for our subtropical Southern summers!

We live in a coastal resort area in South Carolina with subtropical, long, hot, humid, summers. This dress is great daywear for our climate and laid-back atmosphere. It’s a lightweight but opaque, airy, rayon spandex mix, so it has stretch and is much more cooling than the stifling poly spandex blends, and none of the wrinkles of linen. It’s SO soft and comfortable! It’s easy to care for and doesn’t wrinkle, so it’s great for summer travel. I wash mine inside out on the hand wash cycle then hang to dry, which happens overnight. So easy to do if your in a hotel or staying somewhere without laundry facilities. I was a little concerned it was too young for me at age 60, and that it might not work with my pear shaped body type, but I find it flattering and feminine. The top is fitted through the bust with an empire waist and tiered to flow over the hips and disguise flaws. I’m sure it would do the same for apple shaped ladies who carry more weight through the tummy. If you’re pear shaped like me, my advice is NOT to size up as many reviewers recommend. I did and had to return for my normal size, probably could’ve gone one smaller but wanted it flowy. I’m 5’4.5”, currently 165 pounds, and it comes about 2 inches above my knees. I am modest about showing too much of my blindingly pale and imperfect older legs while out running errands, so I wear lightweight white capri leggings under mine, but you’ll never need to do that if your younger, more fit or more confident than me or if you can tan. I’m reviewing the mint floral, which in person looks exactly like the website photo. I love it so much that I now own the black, red, and navy solids plus seven other patterned styles. Some are beachy and great for day wear at a resort or on a cruise, and some could be dressed up with jewelry and nice shoes for a kind of casual boho evening look, especially the black one. I’m taking several of mine for our summer weeks at our mountain home the Smokies, where almost everything is casual with very few exceptions. I’ll also bring several on our cruise in April, but definitely just daywear on a cruise as I don’t feel it’s dressy enough for that setting in the evenings. I’m not a clothing snob and I don’t think you have to spend $$$ or $$$$’s on a dress to look nice and put together. I have a few Lilly Pulitzer dresses that work well in our climate and for resort wear, and even though these ebay dresses are way cheaper, I get the same amount of compliments on them. I hope this review is helpful.

Pros
  • Ideal for any occasion, from casual outings to formal events
Cons
  • The dress may not be suitable for those who prefer a more edgy style
