Many of these reviews were written by women who understandably need relief from hot flashes. What I think is missing are comments from men. Let's face it folks, we want temperatures to be a lot lower than women when we're young. I bought this pad over 2 years ago because I have trouble falling asleep in the heat. Yes, without a pad, my body temperature will eventually drop when I relax and stop moving, but for me it can take 2 hours. My research has shown that several devices that are popping up can help, but many of them are very expensive. I bought this pad based on these reviews and in general. I agree with most of the comments. I put a pad on the sheet next to the bed. When I lie down for the first time, the feeling of cold is a bit shocking, but very quickly I enjoy it and start to relax. Now I look forward to lying down because the relief is immediate. Yes the pillow doesn't stay cold and yes it can get a little warm but I have found that the pillow pulls heat out of my body and traps it inside. It doesn't bother me because what has happened is that I'm starting to catch a cold and the bandage is starting to give relief from the cold.
