Review on Definitive Technology Subwoofer Digitally Pressure Coupled by Tonya Brooks

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Compact but musical. Good settings. With direct cable inputs for loudspeakers.

I use this subwoofer in addition to standard sized high fidelity sound where the Thiel CS 1.7 speakers have relatively limited bass response down to 52Hz. Setup was easy, but finding the best settings requires manual searching. an error for a system with two speakers. With a surround sound system this would be much easier as this subwoofer has an automatic function. One of the reasons I bought this subwoofer is that it has both an LFE input and a standard speaker plug from an amplifier. I am connecting two sets of speaker cables from my Parasound JC1 mono amplifier to a Thiel CS1.7 and this subwoofer. The JC1 has two speaker outputs. It turned out that 180 degree phase switching worked best in my environment. This item has two phase settings: 0 as default and 180 as another parameter. Other options include a low pass filter and in my case the lowest range is best. Easy to switch and find the sweet spot. The instructions are quite detailed. A picture of the instructions is attached. The bass sounds concrete and relatively solid. Don't give in. Enough enough bass structure for Thiel's extremely detailed and realistic soundstage, making the soundstage even more colorful and vivid. I believe this subwoofer will work for use cases like mine. If you have more space consider another model, but small to medium sized and with the need to add quality bass, this subwoofer is one of the most ideal options.
