We bought this for two new kittens to keep them from scratching the furniture and it was perfect for them. They love it and sleep on it all the time and also use the scratching post. In the picture, the kittens are on the shelf and on the bed. A medium sized kitten weighs around 3.5 pounds, while the youngest (topmost) kitten weighs around 2.5 pounds. A 6 year old cat (11 lbs) is shown on the lower level for reference. She's too big to fit in the hut and hasn't really made an effort to scale the upper levels yet but loves the scratching posts. I can only recommend it for kittens or small cats. Great value for money, durable soft fabric and the scratching posts are durable and have withstood many bites and scrapes.
