I'm in college now and my old power supply is so worn out it can't provide a good electrical connection without major manipulation. I'm studying electrical engineering, so my laptop needs more than a pen, paper or textbooks. This adapter claimed to be sold by Dell so I believed it. I got it, connected Absolutely no connection. Worse than that. It seems to have made some sort of instant connection that was causing my laptop to draw too much power. I had only had the battery replaced a few months ago (another Revain purchase but from a different (better) seller. 4 hours on a roughly 1 hour charge!). Even with my old charger plugged in and showing a connection, now my battery is NOT charging AT ALL. I started the return process within ONE HOUR of receiving the poorly made adapter. Then, to my surprise, I don't return it to Dell, but to another vendor (something like ChapterXVI)! You'd better pay the extra money by getting it from DELL website directly.
