solved my problem in Audio and Video Accessories

Basically I wanted to see if I could amplify the signal to solve the downstream splitter problem. I wasn't able to get the 2 TVs to work with their own splitter, although they worked fine before. As a result, I only had to connect one TV and switch if I wanted to use another TV (in the kitchen and in the basement). I hooked up this new splitter in front of my house right where the cable line enters the house. The cable company split it up into a 4-way splitter that serves 4 outlets in the house. As mentioned I have split the output of one of these sockets to serve 2 other TVs together with a TV connected to the socket. It used to work but stopped and I could only switch to another TV. So it was a direct replacement for the existing 4-way outdoor splitter. I ran an outdoor power strip to connect the power supply (which connects to the splitter via a short coax cable that you need to power yourself). The green LED indicates that the splitter is powered on. Then I reconnected the 4 lines going into the house and checked everything. I have no problem with existing TVs or cable modems. I'm not sure if the picture quality is better or not, but certainly not worse. I then tried 2 TVs from the splitter and now it works fine and solves my problem. I have 2 analog TVs with DTA boxes and 4 HD TVs with cable boxes and a cable modem and everything works fine. I'm going to run a cable conduit inside the house so I can put the PSU in there, and also get some sort of plastic box to put the splitter in (like phone cord) so it's a little better protected from the elements. If all of your splitting is done indoors, then you won't have this problem.
