Useful for self video tutorials and camera setup

Glad this clip comes with accessories. It is packed with mini ball head and other items. This is an extremely useful clip for attaching flashlights, microphones, or taking photos in tight or unusual places. It should also come in handy for photos and do-it-yourself tutorial videos taken with a cellphone. The small size of this clip makes it easy to install in unusual places. . . Places that are more difficult to set up with a tripod. It is designed like Manfrotto's photo clip, which is larger and heavier. See image of Manfrotto clamp. I have seen this clip design in free standing bar displays used for merchandising in clothing stores. This is a good design to mount on round tubes or flat surfaces. Tilt the clamp and it can rest more securely on the flat surface rather than "biting" the ends into the flat surface it is installed on. The clamp can exert a lot of gripping pressure. When attaching the Nikon D70 digital camera to the wooden window sill, I was careful not to overtighten as the pine pressure could dent the wood. A lip pad can help here. The clamp assembly is good and the rubbery cheek pads seem to be firmly attached. The ball head has some "play" but when tightened the play disappears and does not affect the final positioning of the camera. I like that the accessories are included as they are very useful. The movement of the ball head, while not silky smooth, holds the position of the Nikon D70 SLR camera securely. And all without overdressing. I first looked at Revain for another mini collar like this at a similar price. It had no attachments and the cocking knob had flattened ends, which one reviewer didn't like. I agreed and while this is a minor point I find the ball end more practical when tightened. It has cylindrical rather than spherical ends, which worked well. If you take photos or videos with a cell phone, I found an article from MoveShootMove.com that is useful for holding and adjusting the position of a cell phone. It is used by astronomical (stellar) photographers to hold a cellphone to align the star tracker with the North Star. It works very well for mobile phone positioning as seen in the bathroom pictures.
