These bulbs are nearly the same length as the bulbs they replace. The standard bulbs are more like 30 mm, i.e. 1 mm longer. The big difference is that on standard bulbs, the sharp tips went THROUGH the small holes in the pins. The lugs on them are much larger which makes for a very snug fit. My truck light has a switch on the end that moves the entire bulb's contact either toward or away from the loaded rail. If they are stuck, this switch will no longer work. With my ceiling light, this bulb does not even come close to the hole in the contact. However, the lightbulb is so tightly clamped that it may take a nuclear explosion to make it fall out. I had to try to plant it with needle nose pliers and a jewelry screwdriver. Maybe I should leave the light on for an hour and melt some solder into the joint. And yes, the LED chips get warm!
